About EEE

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) established in 1998-99 at Vaagdevi College of Engineering with a sufficient number of academic and technical staff, committed to teaching and aimed at to become research centre to provide post-graduate studies in electrical engineering. The department has been set up with well-equipped laboratories and library, meeting the requirements of being the best B.Tech college in Telangana for undergraduates, postgraduates and research students. The UG program was accredited for three years with effect from the year 2009. The department has evolved with time and offered two post-graduate programs such as M.Tech –Power Electronics and M.Tech- Power System Control and Automation in the year 2003-2004.

The curriculum adopted in the department is not confined to departmental subjects but provisioned with other interdisciplinary developmental needs and knowledge. The developed curriculum not only limited to technical learning but includes personality developments, social and organisational behaviours, innovative thinking etc., The structured curriculum is evaluated with learning objectives such as Program Objectives (POs), Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs) and Course Outcomes (Cos) of all the programs offered by Vaagdevi College of Engineering.

Introduction

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering offers U.G and P.G programs in Electrical Engineering Discipline. U.G program was established in the year 1998 at Vaagdevi College of Engineering with an intake of 60 students and enhanced to 180 students from the year 2011. Department is offering two P.G programs includes Power Electronics and Power Systems Control & Automation. Power Elections was established in 2004 at VCE and currently offering 36 seats each in Shift-I and Shift-II. Power Systems Control & Automation was established in the year 2012 and currently offering 36 seats and 24 seats in Shift-I and Shift-II respectively. The UG program has been accredited by the NBA in the years 2008 and 2017.

The Department comprises of 48 qualified and well-experienced faculty and 7 Non-teaching staff members reputed among B.Tech colleges in Warangal. The research work in the department is vibrant with support of Prof. Prakash Kamisheti which made the entire faculty to publish their work in reputed transactions and conferences. The department is having 7 Ph.D. holders and 8 are pursuing their PhDs from reputed institutes and having broad areas of expertise includes Artificial Intelligence, Meta-Heuristic Techniques, Distribution Automation, Power System Deregulation, Micro-Grid Control, and Application of Power Electronics to Power Quality Improvement, Power Converters and Adjustable Speed Drives.

The department is striving hard towards academic excellence and stand out among Warangal B.Tech colleges by having strong industry collaborations to make the students industry-ready. The department also encourages the students to participate in various technical symposia, workshops, internships, and industrial visits. The laboratories are well-equipped and that comprise Electrical Circuits, Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Power Converters and Drives, Electric Power Simulation, Control Systems, and Measurements Laboratories.

The students of our autonomous college have created a benchmark in securing Gate, GRE, TOEFL, and PGECET ranks and also joined several state government, central government and software sectors.

  • Acquire knowledge regarding the operations of Power sector to become capable and understand the issues pertaining to it.
  • Have strong theoretical and complex network simulations of Power systems, control and automation to engage in research and pre-doctoral studies.

The following program outcomes are expected to be found in the graduate students on their completion of the 4-year program.

  • PO-1: Engineering Knowledge: An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, computing, science, electrical and electronics engineering.
  • PO-2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • PO-3: Design / Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • PO-4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO-5: Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO-6: The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
